The coating industry is continuously searching for technologies to reduce the environmental footprint of their products. This trend is driven by our customers, who are asking for safe and ecologically friendly paint and coating solutions.
When it comes to minerals, the use of eco-friendly fillers, such as calcium carbonate, provide a veritable solution to replace other minerals. Functional calcium carbonate types, with optimized morphology and particle size distribution, show that technical improvements go hand in hand with improvements of the environmental footprint of the final paint.
The focus of this paper will be to provide learnings regarding functionality of this novel calcium carbonate, in combination with practical formulations in a variety of interior emulsion paints.
