Reaching new levels of Opacity with Omya Titanium Dioxide Extenders through High Throughput Experimentation Approach Enhancement of optical and mechanical performance in decorative paints remains a challenge. The portfolio of Omya Precipitated Calcium Carbonates (PCCs) has been developed to enhance the performance of Titanium Dioxide in architectural paints. Omyawhite® PCCs allow for an effective optimization of a paint formulation resulting in reduced total cost of formulation, improved opacity & wet scrub resistance of decorative emulsion paints or both. Omya High Throughput Equipment, Flexshuttle, is a fully automated system to formulate, apply and test paints. Omya Flexshuttle carried out sets of experiments so as to find optimized packages of Titanium Dioxide & Omyawhite PCCs and screen other Titanium Dioxide extenders based on competitive products. The combination of Flexshuttle and Omyawhite® PCCs is an excellent tool for Omya and its customers to jointly increase paint performance, drive innovation and overcome raw materials scarcity.
