Synopsis

Oxidatively cured coatings, such as alkyds and oil-based paints, need catalysts to increase reaction rates and achieve faster drying times. Choosing the right catalyst for a specific formulation can further benefit a coating by enhancing other critical properties such as durability, weatherability, and gloss retention. This presentation will highlight how Borchers’ novel catalyst technology can take coating performance to the next level and add extra value to alkyd-based products. The data will showcase comparisons of Borchers’ high-performance catalysts and current technologies available in the market in various market segments, including decorative and industrial systems for metal application. Performance criteria observed include adhesion testing, corrosion resistance, and change of gloss.
